Neuropsychiatric Services:

Dr. Chanth Seyone, M.D., FRCPC, Neuropsychiatrist

CHIRS' Neuropsychiatric Services are offered by Dr. Chanth Seyone and his team at the Acquired Brain Injury Clinic. These services are only available to clients who are receiving Community Outreach or Residential Support Services at CHIRS.

Specialized neuropsychiatric services are provided to individuals who have sustained a brain injury through the unique collaboration of the Acquired Brain Injury Clinic, Neuropsychiatry Program at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network and Community Head Injury Resource Services of Toronto (CHIRS). These neuropsychiatric services address the complication of psychological and psychiatric disorders affecting some individuals who have sustained a brain injury.

Dr. Seyone offers a focused and multi-disciplinary approach to assist individuals who have experienced a brain injury. Individuals are assessed and may be provided with long-term treatment for chronic and disabling post-brain injury psychiatric manifestations. Where appropriate, families are included in the assessment and the ongoing treatment of the individual.

Dr. Seyone also provides on-site education and guidance to CHIRS staff via regular attendance at residential team meetings, in-house neuropsychiatric clinics and on-call support. In addition he lends his experience and expertise in the development and implementation of CHIRS' programs and services. As a participant on CHIRS' Ethical Review Committee, Dr. Seyone provides the neuropsychiatric perspective for CHIRS' clinical and practical standards.

We at CHIRS acknowledge that we are visitors on this land which was originally named Tkaronto and is the traditional territories of the Anishinabee, the Haudenosaunee, the Mississaugas of the Credits, and the Wendat peoples. We also acknowledge the vast diversity of Indigenous people who have lived, and who are currently caring for this land locally and across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that this land is covered by Treaty 13 and One Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant. CHIRS will continue to walk together with all people to nurture all their abilities and gifts to better this land. CHIRS is aware that this acknowledgement is only first steps and actions are needed to truly honour the relationship with the land and Indigenous people.
