Falls Prevention Program As one of the many
client safety initiatives at CHIRS, the goal of the Falls Prevention Program is
to reduce the risk of client falls and injuries related to falls through;
education, screening, health promotion and individualized support/care planning.
Based on best practice literature, CHIRS has adopted a "no weight bearing"
policy as part of their Falls Prevention Program in order to facilitate the
safety of both clients and staff. What does this mean?
CHIRS staff cannot take on the weight of a client when providing daily supports,
during transfers or catch a client in the event of a fall. For more information
about the program, please download and read the pamphlet located on the right
side of this page.
