Community Head Injury Resource Services is pleased to announce that it has received its most recent accreditation decision, Accredited with Exemplary Standing, from Accreditation Canada. CHIRS Recognized in New Publication!
CHIRS is thrilled to be included in the just released Casebook of Exemplary Evidence - Informed Programs that Foster Community Participation for People with ABI
This study was funded by the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation to identify, throughout the world, not only what is effective in the realm of community participation, but how exemplary programs are effective.
This casebook is the world’s first compilation of evidence-informed programs that foster community participation in people of all ages with brain injury.
Everyone at CHIRS is extremely proud of the work we do and even more so now with this international recognition!

Central LHIN Service Accountability Agreement
Within 30 days of September 30 and March 31 of each funding year, CHIRS' Board of Directors will issue a declaration signed by its Chair declaring that CHIRS has complied with the terms of its agreement with the Central LHIN.

CHIRS at the 8th World Congress on Brain Injury
At the International Brain Injury Association’s Eighth World Congress on Brain Injury (March 2010) in Washington, DC, CHIRS’ Clinical Director, Dr. Carolyn Lemsky gave an oral presentation on her ground breaking work – Substance Abuse after Brain Injury Community of Practice: A Systems Intervention to Improve Access to Care in Ontario, and did a poster presentation - Measuring Outcomes of Community Integration Programs: A Case Study of the CHIRS Aging at Home Program. Professional of the Year Award
Hedy Chandler, Executive Director of CHIRS has been honoured with the Professional of the Year Award from the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) for her outstanding contributions to improving the lives of those living with the effects of acquired brain injury. In addition to being CHIRS Executive Director for nearly 25 years, Hedy has participated in various committees for brain injury services at both the provincial and national level. Hedy’s hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to enhancing the lives of persons affected by acquired brain injury continues to inspire us all. Well done and congratulations to Hedy for receiving this prestigious and much deserved award.

To earn this award the agency is assessed against national acquired brain injury (ABI) service standards set by Accreditation Canada in collaboration with the health care community and related stakeholders.
